The Indiana Commission for Higher Education is pleased to announce the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship application is now open for students to apply. As you may remember, the scholarship provides 200 high-achieving high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in education the opportunity to earn a renewable scholarship of up to $7,500 each year for four academic years. In exchange, students agree to teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school. Students interested in applying must have a teacher complete a nomination form and upload the nomination form in their online application through ScholarTrack. Applications are due by 11:59pm EST on November 30, 2017.

In addition to informing your students of this scholarship, we are also looking to recruit educators, administrators, and community partners to serve as interviewers for the selected finalists. In order to select the final 200 recipient of the scholarship, the Commission will interview finalists at seven regional locations over three weekends in February. Current educators are eligible to receive one Professional Growth Point for each hour they participate in the interview.

Indiana Oil and Gas

Indiana Oil and Gas will award a scholarship to any senior who plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree, with preference given for Earth Sciences, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Geology.  Student must have at least a 3.0 GPA.  Apply online by April 1st at  INOGA.ORG.

Gibson County Fairgrounds will award a scholarship to a graduating senior who has been a member of 4-H for at least 5 years.

Applications are due by May 26th and available in the Guidance office.

Indiana Sheriffs’ Association, Inc Scholarship

The Indiana Sheriffs’ Association, Inc. offers a scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to enroll full-time at an Indiana college or university and commit to pursue a career in the law enforcement field.  Applicants must be a member of the Sheriff Association or dependent child or grandchild of an ISA member.  If membership requirement is not fulfilled, you may apply to be a member AND apply for the scholarship at the same time.

Gibson County Internships

Two internship opportunities for high school students with The Gibson County Chamber of Commerce in areas of Business or Public Relations/Communications will be open to students next fall from August 10 – December 20, 2017.
A resume is required along with an interview. Students should have their own transportation and live in Gibson County.
It is a non-paid internship, but may be able to be included in the student’s schedule as a work-based learning class.

USI Freshman Art & Design Scholarship

Hello.  My name is Alisa (AL) Holen, and I am currently the chair of the Freshman Art & Design Scholarship Committee at the University of Southern Indiana.  Our committee is excited to let you know about our generous Freshman Art & Design Scholarship program here at USI!  We have streamlined our application process this year, which makes it easy and efficient for your senior art students to apply online.  The URL address is included at the end of this email and will give you direct access to the information.

Indiana Assoc. of Educational Office Professionals’

Indiana Assoc. of Educational Office Professionals’ student $1,000 scholarship is designed to assist a business education student who wishes to continue a career in an office-related area.    The Indiana winner also could be chosen for a National Assoc. of Educational Office Professionals’ scholarship.  Students must have completed at least 2 business/computer related courses and have at least a 2.8 GPA.
Applications due by February 5.

State Farm Companies Foundation

Do you know high school seniors planning to attend college, technical, or vocational school?

The State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship doesn’t require a high GPA, but rather focuses on students who are leaders and volunteers in their communities and demonstrate financial need.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a 2017 graduating high school senior.
  • High school seniors must have a cumulative GPA between a 2.5 and 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Plan to enroll full-time for the 2017-18 academic year at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

The deadline is March 1, 2017 or the first 700 submitted applications.

Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its third annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to an
aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:

Ivy Tech Community College Announces Scholarship Opportunity

The Dr. Z. Olen & Inez G. Pumphrey Scholarship will award $6,000 this year to Ivy Tech students. To be eligible, students must be degree seeking and enrolled in at least one course at the Ivy Tech Princeton Instructional site.  Each year, the Dr. Z. Olen & Inez G. Pumphrey Scholarship benefits multiple students. Since 2012, the Scholarship has collectively awarded $23,200 to 21 Ivy Tech students. This couple – life-long residents of Gibson County – have impacted students in the community with their generosity and commitment to education, said Ayana Blair, executive director of resource development for Ivy Tech. Dr. Olen passed away in 2009.
